The channel plate/lower cover checkball and spring in the various VW/Audi 01M, 01N and 01P units aid in controlling solenoid regulator pressure. When the spring breaks or collapses, proper fluid control is not maintained, resulting in 2-3 and 3-2 shift complaints. The Sonnax checkball springs 119940-20 restore proper fluid control.
